You may have been asked to extract a C2V from your SL key by a member of our team. Please read the instructions below to do so.
Note: This may be because your SL key needs to be updated due to a new major version of our software is released. Even if you install updated Intella software, your SL key still needs to be updated for the newest license. A license update is required whenever either of the first two digits in the version number changes. For example, upgrading from version 2.x to 3.x, or from 3.0.x to 3.1.x, will require an updated license.
We recommend first visiting our manual dongle update page https://www.vound-software.com/dongle-update and following the instructions to check for available updates. If no updates are available, a message will appear letting you know. If you encounter any issues, proceed with following the instructions below and contact our Support team.
For SL licenses, we will need to create your license manually on Vound's side, and to do so we will need a new C2V file from the system that holds your license.
The steps below show how to extract a C2V file, which you can send to Support. There are two methods, so if one method doesn't work for you, try the other.
Method 1: Extracting a C2V via HaspUpdate.exe
- Log into the system that holds your license. In most cases this is a dedicated licensing system, but it could also be another system such as your Connect or Investigator system. Note that if you're logged into a system that retrieves the license over the network, this is insufficient and you'll receive an error. You must be logged into the machine that the SL key was directly installed to. For example, if your Connect/Investigator and Node machines pull a license from a dedicated license server, you must log into the dedicated license server to extract the C2V successfully.
- Start 'haspupdate.exe'. You will find haspupdate.exe in the bin directory in the installation directory of Intella.
Note: This is typically at: C:\Program Files\Vound\[Your Vound Product]\bin\ however, your folder structure may be different depending on how your application was installed.
If haspupdate.exe doesn't exist on your machine, double-check that you're on the correct machine (see Step 1). If you're certain you're on the correct machine, try Method 2 below.
- Click the 'Collect Status Information' tab at the top. Then click the 'Collect Information' button at the bottom.
If you receive an error like, "Could not access Sentinel protection key!", or "Could not find appropriate Sentinel protection key" (refer to the image below), this indicates you are not on the system that has the SL key installed. Instead, log into the system that has the SL key installed, and perform these instructions again from Step 2.
If you are certain you are logged into the correct system, send a screenshot of 1) the error message and 2) the entire page at this URL: http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html. Send both screenshots to your Vound Support representative.
- A prompt will appear for you to save the C2V file. Select a location and save the file, and ideally keep the name as-is, so the Support team can identify the file more easily.
- Once done, send this C2V file to Support in a support ticket, and they will be able to continue the process to create the new license for you.
Method 2: Extracting a C2V via Sentinel Admin Control Center (ACC)
1. Log into the system that holds your license. In most cases this
is a dedicated licensing system, but it could also be another system
such as your Connect or Investigator system. Note that if you're logged
into a system that retrieves the license over the network, this is
insufficient and you'll receive an error. You must be logged into the
machine that the SL key was directly installed to. For example, if your
Connect/Investigator and Node machines pull a license from a dedicated
license server, you must log into the dedicated license server to
extract the C2V successfully.
2. Open a browser and navigate to: http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html
3. Locate the relevant SL key number in the table; it may be specified by Vound Support. It should have a "C2V" button in the row.
You may see multiple entries that have C2V buttons. If that's the case, locate the SL by Key ID. You can also ensure the Key Type starts with "HASP SL". You may also see a small computer icon and the text "Rehostable". In the example image below, there are two rows with C2V buttons: the very top row, and the red-highlighted row. The top row has an "HL Max" Key Type with a green dongle icon, plus a "Blink on" button beside it's C2V button, which indicates that row is for a plugged-in Intella dongle. The red-highlighted row is the actual SL key we're looking for, since it has a C2V button, a "HASP SL" Key Type, a "Rehostable" text and icon, and no "Blink on" button.
You may need to click the "Next" button at the bottom of the page to navigate to the next page of results.

4. Click the C2V button for your SL key. If there is no C2V button for your SL key, try Method 1 above. If both Method 1 and Method 2 don't work, advise your Vound Support representative, and include screenshots showing the issue with both methods.
5. A prompt will appear for you to save the C2V file. Save the file, and ideally keep the name as-is, so the Support team can identify the file more easily.
