Collecting a license fingerprint

You may have been asked to generate a license fingerprint or key from a specific computer for licensing purposes. This is typically for setting up an SL license on a specific computer, or setting up a trial. If you have been asked to provide this information, you can use the following methods to extract this information in a C2V file.

Before we get started, ensure that:

  • The latest version of the Intella product you'll be using is installed on your computer.
  • No Vound dongles are connected to the computer.
  • An SL key isn't installed on the machine already. If is, you'll need the original license fingerprint that was generated when the first SL key was made. Otherwise, you'll need to install the SL key onto a new machine that doesn't have a pre-existing SL key installed.
If you're unsure whether an SL key has been installed on the machine, proceed with the methods below.
Method 1: Using haspupdate.exe
  1. Start the "haspupdate.exe" program. You can find "haspupdate.exe" in the bin folder where Intella or Connect are installed. The default installation folder is: C:\Program Files\Vound\Intella [Your Intella version number]\bin

  2. Perform the following:
    i) First, choose the "Collect Status Information" tab at the top.

ii) Then, pick the "Install of new protection key" option at the bottom.
If this option is greyed out: pause at this step and notify the Vound representative. This option is usually greyed out when you already have an SL key installed on your system. You will need the original fingerprint that created your first SL key in order to create a new SL key on the machine. Alternatively, you will need to install the SL onto a new machine, which involves collecting a license fingerprint from the new machine.

iii) Finally, click the "Collect Information" button.

  3. You will be asked to save a C2V file to your computer. Once done, send the C2V file to the Vound representative who requested it.

  4. (Optional) You may be requested to apply a V2C file in return. To do so:
    i) Re-open haspupdate.exe if it isn't already.
ii) Navigate to the "Apply License File" tab".
iii) Use the 3-dot menu to browse to the V2C file, then click "Apply Update".

You should see a success message appear:

Method 2: Using Thales Sentinel Admin Control Center (ACC)

On the machine with Intella installed and where the license will be installed to, perform the following steps.
Note that this must be done on the machine where the license will be installed to, since SL keys are tied to the hardware of the host machine.
1. Open a browser and navigate to http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html. If the URL doesn't resolve, Intella may not be installed properly. Try re-installing your Intella product (ensuring you right-click the installer and select "Run as Administrator"). If that doesn't help, contact our Support team.
2. In the row that says, "Reserved for New SL Key", click the "Fingerprint" button to download a C2V file. If you don't see the Fingerprint button, you likely already have an SL key installed. Send a screenshot of the entire page to our Support team.
3. You will be prompted to save a C2V file to your computer. Once done, send the C2V file to the Vound representative who requested it.

4. (Optional) You may be requested to apply a V2C file in return. To do so:
i) Open a browser and navigate to: http://localhost:1947/_int_/checkin.html
ii) Upload the V2C file and click the "Apply File" button.

If you receive any errors, notify the Vound Support representative, and include a screenshot of the error and any details on what you tried.
