Question
Can Intella deduplicate search results?
Answer
Yes, Intella can remove duplicate search results. When indexing items, Intella creates and stores a checksum (a unique code) for each item. The checksums are made using the MD5 algorithm. Two items are considered duplicates (or exact copies) if their checksums are the same.
Intella can be set to show or hide duplicates by clicking the 'Deduplicate' button, located in the middle on the right side between the Results and Details sections.
Note: Be careful when using the 'Deduplicate' button as some items may be unintentionally removed. For example, if you have two different emails that both contain the exact same attached MS Word document, when duplicates are removed, one of the Word documents will be hidden. For some eDiscovery matters, this should not be done as the two parent emails are different. In that case, both emails and their attachments should be included.
