What is Intella Backpack?

    Intella Backpack is a free, optional companion application for:

    • Intella 10

    • Intella 100

    • Intella 250

    • Intella Professional

    It does not require a license and is designed for collaborative, review-only access to Intella cases by clients, staff, or third parties.

    Note: Cases cannot be created in Intella Backpack. All cases must be created and prepared in Intella Desktop (Intella 10, 100, 250, or Pro).

    Purpose and Workflow

    Intella Backpack allows third parties to review data from a case that has already been processed by an analyst.

    Typical Workflow

    1. An analyst processes a case in Intella Desktop (e.g., OCR, tagging, content analysis).

    2. The analyst exports a Portable (IPC) case.

    3. Reviewers open the case in Intella Backpack, search data, and add:

      • Tags

      • Flags

      • Comments

      • Actions

    4. Reviewers export a Work Report.

    5. The analyst imports the Work Report back into the main Intella Pro case.

    This enables collaboration while keeping full control with the case owner.

    Portable (IPC) Case Creation and Size

    • There is no limit on the number of Portable (IPC) cases you can create using an Intella Desktop dongle.

    • Case size limits depend on the Intella product used to create the portable case:

      • Intella Pro supports larger cases than Intella 10, 100, or 250.

    • Intella Backpack can open portable cases of any size, provided they were successfully created.

    • Export reviewer input via a Work Report

    Export Capabilities and Limitations

    Intella Backpack has limited export functionality.

    Not Available

    • Typical exports like exporting to PF, PST, load file, report, etc.

    Available Exports

    • Single item export to original format via the Previewer (if the item content is available)

    • Work Report (tags, flags, comments, actions)

    • Limited facet exports (e.g., Identities, Chat Accounts, etc.)

    • URI export (list of item references)

    URI lists can be imported into Intella Desktop (e.g., via the Item ID Lists facet) to perform full exports.

    Removing a Portable Case

    Portable cases are fully self-contained.

    To remove a case from a device:

    • Delete the case folder from storage.

    • (Optional) Clear temporary files or logs.

    No special uninstall steps are required.

    Limitations and Support

    Portable (Backpack) cases have the following limitations:

    • Export restrictions (as noted above)

    • Reduced functionality compared to full Intella

    • No direct Vound support for Backpack users

      • Support is provided by the organization that supplied the case
