If you encounter problems exporting items from Intella, you can use the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
Access to Evidence Files
- Verify that another application is not accessing the evidence file(s). If another program is accessing the files, close that application before exporting the files.
- Check if the original evidence files are available. If Intella cannot find the evidence, a dialog box will appear when you open the case. In this case, edit the source with the missing evidence in the Sources tab, path it to the correct location, and save the settings. Note that accessing the original evidence data is required for Exporting files and Opening items in their native application.
Exporting of Files
Access to the original evidence data is required for exporting files.
Exporting to PST
- Prior to Intella version 2.5.0, Microsoft Outlook is required to export email messages to a PST file. The MS Outlook PST file option in the Export wizard will be grayed out if Outlook is not installed on your machine. Verify the installation of Microsoft Outlook by going to File > Preferences > MS Outlook tab. Note that from version 2.5.0 Outlook is not required on the system to export to PST format, and the MS Outlook tab has been removed from the Preferences settings.
- When exporting to a PST file, select the parent email to export the descendants (attachments). To show the parent emails of selected files, see the “Showing the Parent Email” section of the manual (Help > User Manual, or type F1).
- Exporting to PST requires access to the original evidence data.
Note that there is an option at the end of the Export wizard to create an export report. If you select this option, a report file of the exported files will be created and placed in the export directory. The export report may help you determine why the files are not being exported.
