Connect/Investigator: How to update source folder locations

When the "file(s) not found" message appears in Intella Connect/Investigator, it typically indicates that the software cannot locate some of the sources that were originally imported into the case. This often happens when the source files have been moved, renamed, or relocated to a different directory after they were initially indexed in Intella.

To update source locations in Intella, follow these simple steps to ensure your data is accurately imported and managed. Intella allows you to easily configure and update the locations of your source, which contain the files for analysis. This process will show you how to edit the evidence paths or restore the sources back to their original location.

In the following steps, we’ll walk you through how to update the source path within the Intella interface.

1. When logged into the dashboard highlight your case and click the sources button

2. Within the source you will see the error message “file(s) not found”. You must first highlight the source and click the edit button

3. Browse to the location of where the source has been moved

4. Once you have found the new location of the source click the use button

5. At the bottom of the screen you will see the message “you need to validate this disk before applying changes”. Go ahead and click validate, once the process has been completed, click apply.

6. You can now see that the error message has gone away and your new source location has been successfully updated!
