User Instructions for Remote Licensing - Trials

We have remote licenses for our customers who need to trial our products. These licenses are located on cloud servers and by following the steps below, you can connect to these to run Intella.

Section 1: Obtaining your IP address

  • We need the public IP of the end user(s). Please provide the public IP address to support

  • Tip: You can find your IP by googling "what is my IP

  • Note that TCP and UDP communication over port 1947 needs to be allowed on your end

  • You may need to consult your IT team for more information on opening these ports

Section 2: Configuring the license manager

  • Ensure that Intella / Intella Investigator / Intella Connect/ Intella Node has been installed

  • Open http://localhost:1947/_int_/config_to.html

  • Ensure that the first two are already checked. (They should be checked by default.)

  • In the "Remote License Search Parameters" list, enter the IP address support provided

  • Click Submit to save the settings

Section 3: Testing that the remote license is active

Once the steps in Section 2 are complete, the remote license should appear.

  • Go to this link http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html.

  • A license key should appear with the machine name (e.g. team-license-server for Desktop and connect-license-server for Connect).

  • Note that it may take a minute or two to show up. Once this entry appears, the licensing is set up.

Section 4: Launching Intella Software

This step is for Intella desktop trials. Please ignore it if you are on a Connect/Investigator trial.

  • Intella will likely launch without the License Manager window opening. If you have other dongles connected, or other active licenses on your system, you will get the following License Manager window. You will see the entry for the Vound remote license in the list. It is the license that has “HASP software-based license” in the description. Select this license to start Intella.

  • Note: The example in this screenshot above shows 'Intella Professional'. In most cases this will be the license you have been given. If you are trialing a different license, you must open the version you have been granted access to. You will not see the License Manager on a Connect/Investigator trial. Also note that you must only open the number of licenses that you have been assigned. If you have been given one license to use, then only one user can access that license at a time.
